"One of the most memorable moments in Peter's life was his confession of Jesus as 'the Christ, the Son of the living God' (Matthew 16:16). In response to this confession, Jesus pronounced a blessing upon Peter, declaring him as the rock upon which He would build His church and entrusting him with the keys of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 16:17-19). This declaration affirmed Peter's role as a foundational figure in the establishment of the Christian church."

He asked Peter three times, 'Simon, son of John, do you love me?' (John 21:15-17). This repetition mirrored Peter's earlier threefold denial of Jesus and provided Peter with an opportunity for reaffirmation and restoration. Each time Peter responded affirmatively, Jesus instructed him to 'feed my lambs' and 'tend my sheep,' emphasising Peter's role as a shepherd and leader in the church. This encounter underscored the theological principle of God's grace and forgiveness, offering restoration and purpose to those who have fallen but are willing to repent and serve."
