Session One: “Why, Lord?” – Pain and Longing

Hannah’s anguish at childlessness is sharpened by cultural shame, personal sorrow, and the cruelty of others. Even her husband cannot fully understand her grief. Yet Hannah’s story assures us that we are not alone. The Bible acknowledges sorrow deeply, reminding us that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18). Reflection questions invite participants to consider their own longings and how God meets us in hidden pain.
